Responsibilities
- Design and implement SageMaker MLOps workflows covering training, orchestration, feature management, model registration, experiment tracking, deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
- Standardise model promotion across development, test, pre-production, and production environments with versioning, automated testing, release governance, rollback, and quality controls.
- Implement security-by-design for SageMaker workloads using least-privilege IAM roles and VPC-attached resources.
- Build monitoring, drift detection, evaluation, alerting, dashboards, and automated responses such as retraining and controlled redeployment.
- Partner with data scientists to productionise notebooks and experiments into managed pipelines and define monitoring thresholds, baselines, and acceptance criteria.
- Build scalable inference solutions using SageMaker real-time and serverless endpoints.
- Define documentation, change-management, governance, and reliability standards for ML platforms.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with MLOps practices, including CI/CD, code/data/model versioning, release governance, and production monitoring.
- Strong AWS experience, particularly with Amazon SageMaker deployment, monitoring, and drift or quality monitoring.
- Experience designing observability for serverless systems using logs, metrics, traces, distributed tracing, dashboards, open standards, and AWS tooling.
- Experience with Docker containerisation and familiarity with custom SageMaker containers.
- Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and incident response for ML platforms.
- Experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
- Experience or knowledge of AWS services including S3, ECR, IAM, Lambda, Step Functions, Glue, and VPC networking.
- Awareness of data privacy, model governance, responsible AI, cost optimisation, data governance, lineage, and model explainability.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- At least one AWS certification is desirable, such as DevOps Engineer Professional, Machine Learning Engineer – Associate, or AI Practitioner for GenAI fundamentals.
