Responsibilities
- Design and implement swarm task-allocation engines using auction-based allocation, the Hungarian method, and constraint satisfaction.
- Develop deterministic real-time re-planning algorithms that adapt to threats, moving targets, and disabled or jammed vehicles during missions.
- Build the optimization layer that decomposes operator objectives into coordinated vehicle assignments above the existing mission-routing engine.
- Own the Software-in-the-Loop environment and test swarm behaviors with four or more virtual vehicles.
- Deploy validated software to live aircraft and participate in field flight trials.
- Work with the software architect and backend team on interfaces involving gRPC services, telemetry feeds, state management, and the operator interface.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of autonomy or robotics experience.
- Strong production experience with modern C++ and the ability to own and scale a latency-sensitive, memory-efficient, deterministic codebase.
- Experience taking motion-planning, routing, or distributed-coordination algorithms from theory into production or rugged field environments.
- Deep expertise in combinatorial optimization, graph theory, and multi-agent coordination.
- Ability to translate research such as the Consensus-Based Bundle Algorithm into working C++ prototypes.
- Systems-level understanding of how planning algorithms interface with services, telemetry, state management, and user interfaces.
- Willingness to define problems independently and travel to live flight trials.
