Responsibilities
- Build scalable backend APIs and microservices in Java or Python for generative AI features.
- Integrate LLMs, AI APIs, pre-trained models, external APIs, caching, and supporting data flows into production services.
- Design APIs, data models, database integrations, authentication, documentation, and message-based service communications.
- Improve service performance, scalability, logging, observability, monitoring, alerting, and production reliability.
- Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, including tests with mocked external services.
- Troubleshoot production issues using profiling, debugging, and log analysis techniques.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, data scientists, and distributed engineering teams to deliver evolving AI features.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and promote maintainable design, tooling, CI practices, and documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field.
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience focused on backend or full-stack development.
- Advanced proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Python, or Go, with experience in common frameworks and asynchronous or multithreaded programming.
- Experience building scalable backend systems, APIs, microservices, high-volume products, data-intensive applications, or third-party integrations.
- Proficiency with SQL, schema design, ORM technologies, and at least one NoSQL database or caching solution.
- Experience with cloud deployment, Docker containerization, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with testing, health checks, dashboards, alerts, error handling, and safe logging.
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts or APIs, model outputs, authentication tokens, and JSON responses.
- Experience with collaborative Git workflows, command-line scripting, Agile/Scrum delivery, and clear English communication.
- Preferred experience includes generative AI, GPT models, transformer fine-tuning, prompt engineering, Hugging Face libraries, vector databases, embeddings, performance optimization, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, frontend technologies, relevant certifications, open-source contributions, or technical leadership.
