Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end release and deployment lifecycle, including build, packaging, deployment, verification, and rollback.
- Develop and support Octopus Deploy projects, lifecycles, channels, variables, and deployment processes.
- Implement deployment and configuration automation with Ansible playbooks, roles, inventories, and idempotent changes.
- Maintain GitHub-based release workflows, including branching, tagging, versioning, and release notes.
- Build and maintain CI pipelines in GitHub Actions or existing tooling to produce artifacts and trigger Octopus releases.
- Standardize deployment patterns through templates, shared steps, and reusable Ansible roles.
- Manage environment configuration and secrets with controlled permissions, auditing, and variable sets.
- Improve deployment safety through approvals, health checks, smoke tests, automated validation, and rollback strategies.
- Support production releases, troubleshoot deployment failures, and perform root-cause analysis.
- Maintain release documentation, runbooks, and change management practices.
- Collaborate with developers, QA, and operations to plan releases and reduce downtime.
Requirements
- Experience as a DevOps, Release, or Deployment Engineer supporting production deployments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Octopus Deploy, including process design, variables, and multi-environment releases.
- Strong Ansible skills for deployment and configuration, including roles, vault/secrets, and troubleshooting.
- Strong working knowledge of GitHub, including pull request workflows, tagging, releases, and permissions.
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts such as artifact management, versioning, and promotion between environments.
- Administration and troubleshooting skills on Windows and/or Linux deployment hosts.
- Ability to diagnose deployment issues across application, operating system, network, and configuration layers.
- Preferred: experience with Terraform and infrastructure provisioning.
- Preferred: PowerShell and/or Bash scripting experience.
- Preferred: monitoring and observability experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and logs.
- Preferred: experience with IIS/.NET deployments, Nginx, or reverse proxies.
- Preferred: familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes deployments.
- Preferred: experience managing VoIP components and protocols such as SIP, FreeSwitch, OpenSIP, and session border controllers.
- Preferred: experience with F5 LTM and F5 GTM load balancing components.
- Preferred: experience administering AWS or Azure tenants.
- Preferred: experience with VMware or Hyper-V virtualization platforms.
