Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs.
- Enhance multitenant architecture and the global footprint of Zscaler’s cloud security platform.
- Write and maintain unit, integration, and performance tests.
- Monitor, debug, and optimize system performance.
- Mentor junior engineers and uphold engineering best practices through code reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in sprint planning and retrospectives.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support a highly available engineering platform and federal compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging, securing, or positioning AI-driven solutions within the functional domain.
- At least 5 years of experience coding proficiently in Java, Golang, or similar technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and one or more major cloud platforms, including AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Expertise designing and maintaining large-scale distributed systems, with strong fundamentals in scaling, availability, and design trade-offs.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis for complex issues.
- Preferred: experience using LLMs or AI code-assistance platforms for distributed-systems development, refactoring, and automated testing pipelines.
- Preferred: strong understanding of DevOps automation workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
- Preferred: excellent communication, collaboration, technical decision-making, and independent execution skills.
