Responsibilities
- Maintain, develop, test, support, and enhance a legacy Java application running in production.
- Develop integrations, plugins, automation, and tool onboarding to support business needs and the Morgan Stanley ecosystem.
- Drive architecture and design decisions and review critical code, designs, and production changes.
- Perform debugging, troubleshooting, observability, DevOps, and on-call support activities.
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, Agile ceremonies, documentation, presentations, and knowledge sharing.
- Coach engineers through technical challenges, production incidents, and career progression.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of relevant experience is generally expected, with 10+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices stated as a qualification.
- Strong understanding of HTTP, REST, TLS/SSL, authentication, authorization, LDAP, OOP, Spring, and Spring Security.
- Experience applying data security principles, encryption at rest and in transit, secret management, and public key infrastructure.
- Experience with Git, JDBC, relational databases including Sybase, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Splunk, ELK, Grafana, and Prometheus for observability.
- Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines, plus Perl programming experience.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across logs, thread dumps, and network traces.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, along with architecture, design, code review, and coaching experience.
- Experience with GenAI, Agentic AI, and LLMs is an advantage.
- Java certifications such as OCJP or Java Web Component Developer are advantageous.
