Responsibilities
- Own Kubernetes/EKS lifecycle management, including independently planning and executing cluster upgrades.
- Understand and improve the existing Terraform-based infrastructure as code at scale.
- Support and evolve AWS enterprise networking and multi-account architecture.
- Partner with Security, Compliance, and Data teams to meet audit and governance requirements, including SOC 2 and FedRAMP-adjacent requirements.
- Scale infrastructure to support Opto’s growth and build on the existing architecture.
- Coordinate with business stakeholders to administer and facilitate hosted infrastructure needs.
- Support broader platform reliability initiatives.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering, with staff-level or subject-matter-expert depth preferred.
- Deep Kubernetes and EKS experience, including independently planning and executing cluster version upgrades.
- Proficiency with Terraform and infrastructure as code at scale; Pulumi experience is a plus.
- Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, enterprise networking, containers, and multi-AZ deployments.
- Strong operational competence with Linux systems and shell scripting.
- Experience with CI/CD and Git-based workflows.
- Compliance and security posture experience, including SOC 2, access management with Okta/IAM, and audit readiness.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience working cross-functionally across multiple teams.
- Experience in a startup or similarly fast-paced, high-trust, interrupt-driven environment.
- Familiarity with React, Next.js, TypeScript, Python, Java, Snowflake, and Datadog is a bonus.
- Experience in regulated industries such as fintech, wealth management, banking/payments, or healthcare is a bonus.
- Familiarity with ISO 27001 is a bonus.
