Responsibilities
- Modernize legacy .NET services into current .NET implementations and improve architecture boundaries and performance.
- Build and maintain versioned RESTful APIs and resilient, event-driven services.
- Develop modular Angular frontends, including microfrontend strategies, and deliver end-to-end product features.
- Use Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar AI agents for migrations, refactors, API extraction, test scaffolding, documentation, and code review workflows.
- Create reusable AI-assisted engineering playbooks, prompt templates, repository instructions, migration checklists, and review standards.
- Tune SQL Server schemas, queries, indexes, transactions, and performance for data-heavy applications.
- Help build data pipelines and distributed systems using technologies such as Kafka when needed.
- Implement automated tests, CI quality gates, structured logging, observability, and secure data-handling practices.
- Partner with analysts, stakeholders, product, UX, DevOps, and QA to plan and ship reliable customer-facing software.
- Review code, contribute to architectural decisions, and help establish pragmatic delivery plans and progressive delivery guardrails.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building and shipping production software systems.
- Experience with C# and modern .NET, including meaningful refactoring or migration work in large codebases.
- Strong SQL Server experience, including schema design, query tuning, indexing, and performance troubleshooting.
- Cloud experience with Azure and/or AWS, with Azure particularly relevant.
- Experience designing and maintaining service-oriented architectures with API versioning, authentication, reliability, and testing practices.
- Daily practical experience using AI coding agents such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar for multi-file refactors, migrations, test generation, and review workflows.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively and communicate clearly through pull request descriptions, design documents, and pragmatic collaboration.
- Preferred experience modernizing legacy ASP.NET or .NET Framework systems.
- Preferred experience with Azure modernization patterns, Kafka, event-driven architectures, or Postgres alongside SQL Server.
- Preferred frontend experience with Angular and/or React/Next.js.
- Preferred experience establishing AI-friendly engineering practices, CI guardrails, feature flags, canary deployments, or other progressive delivery approaches.
- Background in regulated healthcare, fintech, or payments domains is preferred.
