Base Salary
$147k - $196k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, review, implement, and operate complex, large-scale, highly available backend services and microservices.
- Drive performance, scalability, monitoring, and operational improvements for systems with demanding SLOs and SLIs.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as a first responder for team-owned systems.
- Define technical roadmaps, identify infrastructure investments, and manage technical debt with Engineering and Product Managers.
- Mentor and coach engineers, establish best practices, and conduct code and design reviews.
- Lead cross-team technical collaboration, resolve blockers, standardize shared services and technologies, and lead incident post-mortems.
Requirements
- Extensive professional software engineering experience with significant Staff-level experience leading technical projects and direction.
- Deep experience designing, building, and operating distributed, high-volume backend systems and REST/gRPC APIs.
- Proficiency in at least one of JavaScript/TypeScript, Rust, Java, Go, Python, or C# and the ability to work across multiple languages.
- Experience architecting event-driven architectures, domain-driven design, and containerized systems using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of AWS, GCP, or Azure and operational tools for monitoring, logging, and CI/CD.
- Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and cross-organizational technical influence skills.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Scrum or Kanban, and DevOps principles.
