Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain internet-scale distributed systems and scalable HRIS services.
- Write code and conduct code reviews using backend languages such as Golang, Java, and Python.
- Provide technical leadership, define engineering direction, and mentor engineers across the organization.
- Design systems that support millions of concurrent users with strong performance, reliability, scalability, and failure isolation.
- Develop modular abstraction APIs, programmatic APIs, and Backend for Frontend systems.
- Design analytical and transactional storage systems capable of operating at petabyte scale.
- Build highly available systems targeting four or five nines of uptime.
- Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, debugging, incident response, capacity planning, and other observability practices.
- Build and integrate streaming and workflow systems for transactional and analytical workloads.
- Lead complex architectural initiatives, large-scale migrations, documentation, standards, and cross-functional technical alignment.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience building and operating large-scale backend, distributed, or platform systems.
- Deep programming experience in one or more of Golang, Java, or Python.
- Strong knowledge of backend architecture, API design, data modeling, service boundaries, dependency management, concurrency, performance, reliability, and failure isolation.
- Experience building internal platforms or foundational systems used by multiple engineering teams.
- Experience creating guardrails, validation systems, and automated enforcement mechanisms.
- Strong operational ownership, including observability, debugging, incident response, capacity planning, and production reliability.
- Experience leading complex architectural initiatives and large-scale migrations across multiple teams.
- Ability to influence engineering direction without direct reporting authority while balancing hands-on execution with architecture, mentorship, and organizational leadership.
- Strong written and verbal communication through design documents, RFCs, architecture reviews, and cross-team alignment.
- Preferred experience with configuration-driven platforms, workflow engines, orchestration systems, developer platforms, low-code frameworks, large-scale configuration migrations, performance budgets, reliability guardrails, platform governance, automated architectural enforcement, AI-assisted developer tooling, and web or mobile application architecture.
