Base Salary
$162k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical direction of software delivery as a shared product and shape platform paved paths that improve code health, release quality, and delivery speed.
- Collaborate with Product, engineering leaders, and internal users to define the delivery platform roadmap and deliver measurable quality and speed improvements.
- Build scalable, secure, and observable software delivery systems and workflows that improve reliability, software quality, and velocity.
- Establish accessible best practices for testing, deployment strategies, progressive delivery, and observability through the platform.
- Mentor engineers, contribute to hiring, and foster an inclusive and collaborative engineering culture.
- Support The New York Times' mission and value of journalistic independence.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience building technical strategy and driving CI/CD and software delivery with broad organizational impact beyond operations.
- Proficiency building and maintaining production services in one or more general-purpose programming languages, including code review and debugging complex issues.
- At least 7 years of experience with containers, Kubernetes, package management tools, infrastructure-as-code tools, GitOps-based deployment workflows, and cloud services such as AWS and GCP.
- Proficiency with GenAI-assisted developer tooling such as Cursor, Copilot, or Claude Code.
- Experience leading cross-team technical work, communicating trade-offs, and partnering with Product, platform, and product engineering teams.
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to an inclusive, collaborative engineering culture.
- Preferred: exposure to artifact and package management such as Artifactory, with attention to security, retention, cost, and engineer usability.
