Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, low-latency backend services for Polymarket's exchange.
- Profile, tune, and debug systems focusing on latency, throughput, memory usage, and correctness.
- Build and operate robust APIs, data pipelines, and event-driven systems using messaging platforms.
- Reinforce security, availability, performance, and scalability across backend systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration between the exchange and the broader platform.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and architectural decisions.
Requirements
- 4–7+ years of professional backend development experience.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ or another systems language (Go, Rust, Java).
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and memory management.
- Experience building low-latency, high-throughput systems.
- Comfortable debugging production issues on Linux.
- Experience in trading systems, HFT, gaming, or other latency-sensitive domains is a plus.
- Production experience with Kafka, Pulsar, or similar streaming platforms is a plus.
- Familiarity with gRPC, Protobuf, ZeroMQ, or similar technologies is a plus.
- Experience deploying systems in cloud environments (AWS/GCP) and using containers is a plus.
