Responsibilities

  • Optimize PHP application code and database interactions for performance and scalability.
  • Identify off-by-one errors, inefficient algorithms, and performance issues at different data scales.
  • Write, audit, and optimize complex SQL queries and improve how application code processes query results.
  • Design databases and recommend logical sort keys, shard keys, indexes, schemas, and architecture improvements.
  • Review existing tables and data-access patterns for scalability as data volumes increase.
  • Maintain applications on Linux platforms in cloud environments and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Collaborate independently and with distributed teams across different time zones.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional PHP development experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of databases and extensive experience working with large volumes of data.
  • Experience writing complex and optimized SQL queries.
  • Excellent knowledge of modern PHP versions.
  • Experience with relational databases; SingleStore/MemSQL experience is a bonus.
  • Experience maintaining applications on Linux platforms in cloud environments.
  • Professional experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Demonstrated technical troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with distributed teams.
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning technologies such as SCA, SAST, DAST, IAST, VM scanning, or container scanning is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud environments, ideally AWS, is a plus.
  • Experience with data analytics and/or data science is a plus.
