Responsibilities
- Optimize PHP application code and database interactions for performance and scalability.
- Identify off-by-one errors, inefficient algorithms, and performance issues at different data scales.
- Write, audit, and optimize complex SQL queries and improve how application code processes query results.
- Design databases and recommend logical sort keys, shard keys, indexes, schemas, and architecture improvements.
- Review existing tables and data-access patterns for scalability as data volumes increase.
- Maintain applications on Linux platforms in cloud environments and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Collaborate independently and with distributed teams across different time zones.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional PHP development experience.
- Excellent knowledge of databases and extensive experience working with large volumes of data.
- Experience writing complex and optimized SQL queries.
- Excellent knowledge of modern PHP versions.
- Experience with relational databases; SingleStore/MemSQL experience is a bonus.
- Experience maintaining applications on Linux platforms in cloud environments.
- Professional experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Demonstrated technical troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with distributed teams.
- Experience with vulnerability scanning technologies such as SCA, SAST, DAST, IAST, VM scanning, or container scanning is a plus.
- Experience with cloud environments, ideally AWS, is a plus.
- Experience with data analytics and/or data science is a plus.
