
Senior Software Engineer (Flight Software)

- Design and implement trusted, safety-critical vehicle management systems.
- Develop scalable vehicle subsystems for sensor processing, state estimation, contingency management, actuation, payload interfaces, and mission systems interfaces.
- Develop reusable software components across multiple Anduril product lines.
- Develop real-time embedded software using an RTOS, including device drivers and sensor and actuator interfaces.
- Create software- and hardware-in-the-loop test and simulation fixtures.
- Support vehicle manufacturing and deployment throughout the product lifecycle.
- Own software outcomes at the major subsystem or system level and contribute to architecture, design, delivery, support, and evolution.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams and mentor software engineers from varied backgrounds.
- Travel up to 20% to co-locate with end users or other teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency writing C and experience with an RTOS.
- Familiarity with communications buses and protocols including CAN, CANFD, UART/RS232/RS422/RS485, SPI, QSPI, I2C, Ethernet, ARINC-825, ARINC-429, and MIL-STD-1553.
- Systems programming skills in algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and optimization.
- Ability to own a software component across stakeholder engagement, requirements definition, roadmap management, coordination, design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution.
- Ability to mentor junior team members and contribute to team cohesion.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Negative Vetting 2 security clearance.
- Preferred experience developing embedded applications for autonomous vehicle software systems and high-assurance safety-critical applications.
- Preferred experience developing sensor and actuator interfaces, troubleshooting remotely deployed software, and testing electrical and mechanical systems.
- Preferred experience with DO-178, IEC 61508, or similar certifications, plus familiarity with navigation, communications, and systems engineering concepts.
- Preferred experience across manufacturing, system acceptance, deployment, and sustainment.
- Interest in progressing toward Staff Software Engineer, Software Engineering Manager, or Tech-Lead-Manager responsibilities.
