Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
- Build and evolve systems for subscriptions, marketplaces, digital ownership, wallets, entitlements, creator payouts, payments, and economic analytics.
- Ensure transactional integrity, reconciliation accuracy, reporting integrity, and traceability across economic systems.
- Own services end-to-end through development, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
- Lead architectural initiatives, refactors, and technical strategy across the economy stack.
- Improve performance, observability, monitoring, incident response, operational resilience, CI/CD reliability, and release safety.
- Contribute to fraud detection and prevention systems and external payment integrations.
- Partner with Product, Design, Data, Finance, Trust & Safety, Infrastructure, and engineering teams.
- Mentor engineers and influence cross-team design decisions and technical standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience in SaaS, fintech, marketplaces, or online platforms.
- Deep proficiency with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases including MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
- Experience with message queues, caching strategies, WebSocket systems, and external payment or fintech integrations.
- Experience with profiling, optimization, observability, complex evolving codebases, and high-throughput or event-driven transactional systems.
- Experience operating under PCI DSS, GDPR, and PII requirements.
- Experience building subscription engines, marketplaces, accounting systems, or invoicing workflows.
- Familiarity with AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Staff-level candidates should have credible experience designing and operating financial or high-integrity transactional systems at scale and leading cross-team architecture initiatives.
- Bonus qualifications include integrations with Steam, Oculus, Apple, or Google Play payment systems; large-scale refactors or migrations; internal operational tooling; creator-facing systems; and full-stack development.
