Base Salary
$153k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the AI platform reference architecture, including API abstractions, prompt and version management, RAG infrastructure, vector retrieval, evaluation harnesses, and model serving.
- Define multi-team technical strategy, standards, platform interfaces, and API contracts.
- Lead build-versus-buy evaluations, due diligence, and integration planning for AI components.
- Design foundational data pipelines and infrastructure for reliable, scalable AI services.
- Contribute hands-on backend development in Python and API design, including integrations with leading AI providers.
- Participate in full-stack delivery using React, TypeScript, and Vite when needed.
- Build and maintain platform APIs, tooling, SDKs, and self-service resources for product engineering teams.
- Implement LLM integrations involving context management, prompt templating, response validation, and fallback strategies.
- Build reproducible evaluation frameworks and establish observability and performance tracking for AI services.
- Collaborate with Security on encryption, least privilege, audit logging, compliance, and secure-by-default architecture.
- Partner with Product and engineering leadership on requirements, technical designs, specifications, and AI platform roadmaps.
- Lead architecture reviews, companywide technical forums, and engineering standards initiatives.
- Mentor L3–L4 engineers through code reviews, design sessions, and architectural guidance.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated cross-team architectural influence.
- Proven end-to-end delivery of AI-powered features from product concept through production.
- Strong proficiency in Python and backend API development, including FastAPI and Django.
- Knowledge of full-stack development with React and TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience integrating third-party LLM and AI APIs.
- Experience with AWS, including IAM, networking, managed services, and storage.
- Understanding of distributed systems, API design, and cloud-native architecture.
- Experience with Docker, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and AI-assisted development tools.
- Experience authoring durable technical proposals such as RFCs and ADRs.
- Experience with GenAI patterns including RAG pipelines, prompt management, LLM evaluation, and agent frameworks.
- Familiarity with vector databases and semantic search, including Pinecone, pgvector, and OpenSearch.
- Exposure to model serving, MLOps/LLMOps, and model lifecycle and deployment tools.
- Experience building developer platforms, SDKs, and self-service engineering tooling.
- Experience with Terraform or Pulumi, Kubernetes, and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience in financial services, fintech, or regulated environments.
- Preferred familiarity with AI governance in financial services, including NCUA, model risk, and fair lending.
- Preferred understanding of SOC 2 or similar compliance frameworks from an engineering perspective.
