Senior Platform Engineer - Reporting Systems

- Build and maintain an Excel Web Add-in for Excel Online and desktop.
- Develop cloud APIs coordinating report execution, parameters, and results.
- Build and evolve a secure on-prem connector service for customer SQL Server environments and Azure-based cloud infrastructure.
- Design and tune SQL queries and schemas for reporting and analytics.
- Ensure system reliability, performance, and security.
- Translate business and reporting needs into technical use cases and system designs.
- Define system boundaries, responsibilities, and data flows.
- Decompose initiatives into sequenced, well-scoped work items.
- Review other developers’ designs and implementations.
- Establish pragmatic standards for performance, security, and maintainability.
- Partner technically with product and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to AI-assisted reporting, metadata generation, workflow acceleration, and semantic interpretation features.
- Use judgment to identify where AI provides leverage while maintaining engineering rigor.
Requirements
- Native or near-native English language skills and excellent written and spoken communication.
- 8–12 years of software development experience on complex production systems.
- Genuine hands-on architecture experience, including diagramming system components, data flows, and boundaries.
- Strong .NET and ASP.NET Core backend experience; deep Node.js and TypeScript experience may be considered.
- Advanced SQL Server expertise, including query tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing, stored procedures, and reporting-oriented schema design.
- Front-end development experience with TypeScript and React or an equivalent modern framework.
- Experience building or integrating Excel add-ins with Office.js or VSTO is strongly preferred.
- Experience with large-scale, data-intensive systems rather than only CRUD applications or narrow feature work.
- Familiarity with Azure fundamentals, CI/CD pipelines, and production diagnostics.
- Experience building AI-assisted features or integrating LLM capabilities into production systems is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently with abstract requirements in a high-ownership, low-process environment.
- Native or near-native English language skills are required for consideration.
