Responsibilities
- Define and implement AgentCore Runtime patterns covering agent packaging, sessions, state, error handling, and timeouts.
- Design short-term and long-term memory strategies using AgentCore Memory.
- Build planning, tool-use, supervisor/worker, and multi-agent handoff patterns with clear fallbacks.
- Expose internal APIs, Lambda functions, and legacy services as governed agent tools through AgentCore Gateway.
- Design and build Model Context Protocol servers with clean tool definitions and schemas.
- Configure authentication and authorization using AgentCore Identity, OAuth, and IAM.
- Integrate safely with enterprise and legacy systems, including rate limits, data mapping, and error handling.
- Create production-quality reference agents, starter kits, standards, and reusable tool onboarding processes.
- Implement evaluation, Bedrock Guardrails, contract tests, and safety checks.
- Document platform patterns, run walkthroughs, and support engineering teams adopting the platform.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong Python experience; TypeScript experience is a plus.
- Hands-on experience building LLM agents with an agent framework such as Strands Agents, LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents SDK, or LlamaIndex.
- Practical experience with LLM tool or function calling and model output handling.
- Strong AWS fundamentals, including IAM, Lambda, API Gateway, containers, DynamoDB, S3, VPC connectivity, and Secrets Manager.
- Experience designing and consuming APIs and OpenAPI specifications, with authentication patterns such as OAuth 2.0 and OIDC.
- Understanding of agent memory, retrieval-augmented generation, and context-management trade-offs.
- Deep hands-on strength in either Agent Runtime and Orchestration or Gateway, Tools and Integrations, plus working knowledge of the other area.
- Ability to write clean, well-tested, reusable code and communicate clearly while teaching other teams.
- Preferred qualifications include Amazon Bedrock AgentCore experience, MCP server experience, production multi-agent systems, observability and failure handling, enterprise or legacy integrations, API management platforms, LLM evaluation, and regulated-industry experience.
- Prior consulting experience is expected, and Life Sciences industry experience or connections are preferred.
