Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust, scalable, secure software solutions while anticipating failure scenarios, technical costs, and future evolution.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, contract, UAT, mutation, positive, negative, regression, and stress tests.
  • Lead advanced debugging of multicomponent systems and critical incidents, including root-cause analysis and prevention.
  • Define and improve metrics, logs, tracing, alerts, SLOs, and SLAs to improve stability, performance, and cost.
  • Review architectural decisions and propose simplification, modularity, resilience, and technical-debt reduction.
  • Apply secure-by-design practices and review code for vulnerabilities and compliance with internal guidelines.
  • Improve code review, release flows, incident management, CI/CD, and other engineering processes.
  • Mentor less-experienced professionals, disseminate technical knowledge, and facilitate technical meetings.
  • Coordinate with engineering, product, business, security, and adjacent teams while communicating technical trade-offs to stakeholders.
  • Lead or participate in strategic engineering initiatives involving standardization, evolving architecture, observability, security, and performance.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of software design, including modularity, context boundaries, architectural patterns, and systematic refactoring.
  • Strong experience with advanced testing, quality pipelines, contract testing, mutation testing, architecture testing, and non-functional testing.
  • Strong experience with observability, metrics design, SLO/SLA analysis, trend analysis, and alert optimization.
  • Advanced distributed debugging involving correlated logs, tracing, concurrency analysis, and performance degradation.
  • Advanced Git knowledge, including complex workflows, strategic review, and automation.
  • Mature security practices including secure coding, secrets management, vulnerability mitigation, and basic threat modeling.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automation, legacy refactoring, and improving deployment cycle time and reliability.
  • Understanding of operational cost factors including latency, throughput, memory, and horizontal versus vertical scalability.
  • Familiarity with REST, gRPC, asynchronous integration, and event-driven integration paradigms.
  • Ability to use logs, metrics, infrastructure cost, errors, and trends to guide technical decisions.
  • Theoretical knowledge of cloud concepts and AWS tools.
  • Preferred qualifications include cross-team initiative leadership, critical incident and post-mortem experience, Domain-Driven Design, Event-Driven Architecture, Chaos Engineering, internal library or corporate-standard contributions, technical publications or talks, insurance business knowledge, and test automation.
