Responsibilities
- Design, build, operate, and evolve highly available services for device identity, authentication, metadata management, and device lifecycle workflows.
- Develop low-latency, high-throughput systems supporting client application startup and access flows.
- Collaborate with User & Identity, Vehicle Services, Client SDK, Platform, and Data Engineering teams.
- Drive software quality through design reviews, code reviews, testing strategies, and operational practices.
- Investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and improve reliability, observability, and performance.
- Participate in architecture discussions shaping SiriusXM’s device trust and authentication platform.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience.
- Experience building backend systems in Scala, Java, Kotlin, or similar JVM languages; Scala and functional programming experience is highly desirable.
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful web APIs in an enterprise environment.
- Deep knowledge of the software development lifecycle, source control, CI/CD, and testing approaches.
- Deep distributed-systems knowledge and experience supporting multiple high-throughput production systems.
- Production experience with AWS, preferably across compute, databases, storage, containers, and serverless technologies.
- Experience with asynchronous programming models for high-throughput JVM systems.
- Ability to weigh engineering tradeoffs against business needs and demonstrate ownership through production deployment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
