Responsibilities
- Build and maintain robust, scalable backend systems for Wise’s mitigation and servicing platform.
- Implement features, resolve issues, and identify important problems within the domain.
- Drive long-term technical strategy, sustainable architecture, and scalability for owned systems.
- Collaborate across teams and document platform capabilities to support adoption by other Wise teams.
- Take broad ownership of squad responsibilities, including building roadmaps and scoping work.
- Mentor junior and senior engineers and help establish a high technical bar.
- Contribute to engineering teams and large-scale projects that improve Wise’s financial products.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience with Java or other JVM-based languages.
- At least 2 years of experience architecting large-scale systems and implementing scalable, domain-driven technical solutions.
- Willingness to take broad ownership of squad responsibilities and mentor teams on technical and product roadmaps.
- Experience developing junior engineers and guiding senior engineers through processes and high standards.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience leading engineering teams and driving large-scale projects across multiple engineering teams is preferred.
