Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable and reliable web-scale applications, tools, and automation frameworks for Roku’s Content Management System.
- Collaborate with product management, content management services, and internal product engineering teams to evolve content management systems and tools.
- Design and build batch, near-real-time, and real-time data pipelines.
- Translate functional specifications into logical, component-based technical designs.
- Write and review code while evaluating performance and security tradeoffs in high-performance systems.
- Participate in architecture discussions, influence the product roadmap, and own new projects.
- Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with limited supervision.
- Participate in periodic on-call duty and respond to out-of-band requests.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Java, Scala, or Python.
- Experience building high-performance, cloud-based, scalable microservices.
- Experience with microservice and event-driven architectures.
- Experience designing and implementing modern microservices architectures and REST/JSON API frameworks.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or similar.
- Experience with NoSQL technologies such as Cassandra, DynamoDB, or Redis and relational databases such as Oracle or MySQL.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science plus 5 years of experience or equivalent; a master’s degree is preferred.
- AI literacy and curiosity, including prior use or exploration of generative AI.
- Ability to handle periodic on-call duty and out-of-band requests.
