Base Salary
$180k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and scale backend services for HLS products and distributed systems.
- Write production-quality code using Python and/or C#, including AI-assisted development with tools such as Claude and GitHub Copilot.
- Prototype ideas rapidly, validate them with customers, and turn successful concepts into production systems.
- Design evaluations and measure AI-system quality against real customer data and workflows.
- Build orchestration infrastructure for AI agents, robots, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Develop resilient, scalable, reliable distributed systems with idempotency, replayability, state management, and long-running jobs.
- Translate customer needs into technical solutions and contribute to customer-centric product development.
- Participate in an on-call rotation approximately one week every two to three months.
Requirements
- Strong backend engineering experience in Python and/or C# and willingness to work across both.
- Experience building production AI systems involving LLMs, tool-calling, structured outputs, orchestration, and model-behavior evaluation.
- Experience with agentic or workflow-based systems, including multi-agent architectures, LangGraph, LangChain, durable workflows, retries, and long-running execution patterns.
- Experience with healthcare systems or standards such as Epic, Cerner, X12 EDI, CARC/RARC, HL7/FHIR, ICD-10/HCPCS, prior authorization, claims, or revenue-cycle workflows.
- Experience designing resilient distributed systems with idempotency, replayability, state management, and long-running jobs.
- Ability to debug non-deterministic systems, evaluate quality empirically, and distinguish model, prompt, and data issues.
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to make decisions using imperfect signals.
- Experience with healthcare domain workflows and rapid prototyping in ambiguous environments.
- Preferred experience with data science, evaluation, applied ML techniques, large-scale data platforms, Snowflake, retrieval-heavy architectures, RAG, citation-grounded AI, rules engines, LLM regression testing, human-in-the-loop review, PHI/HIPAA-aware engineering, multi-tenant systems, React, TypeScript, Temporal, Airflow, Maestro, BPMN, Step Functions, Kubernetes, or distributed infrastructure.
- Experience in startups, applied research, 0-to-1 product environments, or open-source contributions is advantageous.
