Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business users, product managers, and engineering partners to clarify requirements and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Build and maintain Python-based services on AWS using event-driven patterns with S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, Step Functions, and ECS.
- Contribute to S3 and DynamoDB architecture, data modeling, APIs, encryption policies, performance, and scalability decisions.
- Integrate AWS storage, serverless compute, orchestrated workflows, and container workloads.
- Perform end-to-end integration, contract, schema validation, replay, idempotency, and cross-service testing.
- Use Avro for data serialization, schema design, schema evolution, and large-data or streaming workflows.
- Maintain clean code, documentation, code reviews, observability, resilience, and operational readiness.
- Provide third-line support and contribute to continuous improvement.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in software development, system integration, database design, and backend architecture.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or a Master’s degree or diploma in Computer Science.
- Production experience developing Python-based services, including object-oriented programming, type hints, static analysis, packaging, virtual environments, dependency management, and multiprocessing.
- Hands-on experience with Amazon S3, including Access Points, IAM controls, lifecycle rules, storage classes, and multipart uploads.
- Experience with DynamoDB and NoSQL data modeling.
- Experience with AWS Lambda, AWS Step Functions, and Amazon ECS, including event integration, retries, workflow orchestration, scaling, and container operations.
- Experience with integration and contract testing, Avro schema validation and compatibility testing, monitoring, and observability validation.
- Experience with Avro schema design and evolution, fastavro or similar libraries, large datasets, and streaming workflows.
- Experience with cloud-native CI/CD, logging, and monitoring tools such as Git, Bitbucket, CloudWatch, or Splunk.
- Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and agile practices.
- Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, prioritization, and proactive risk-identification skills.
