Responsibilities
- Build highly available, secure, distributed systems.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain systems representing logistics entities such as shippers, cargo, documents, carriers, containers, and email.
- Collaborate with engineers on complex business and technical problems.
- Work with business partners and product managers to turn complex problems into technical solutions.
- Build and launch products rapidly and incrementally, with production releases occurring dozens of times per day.
- Maintain a high quality bar by monitoring metrics and applying post-mortem learnings across services.
- Own the design and development of key parts of forwarding systems and contribute to subsystem design and engineering practices.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience writing software and a strong engineering background.
- At least 2 years of design and architecture knowledge, including familiarity with object-oriented analysis and design patterns.
- Knowledge of at least one of Ruby, C, C++, Java, or Kotlin.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with large-scale, high-performance systems in complex, multi-tiered, distributed environments is preferred.
- Understanding of performance tradeoffs, load balancing, and operational issues is preferred.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices across coding standards, code reviews, source control, continuous deployments, testing, and operations is preferred.
- Ability to communicate technical ideas to business partners, product managers, and engineers is preferred.
- Ability to learn quickly and a preference for simple, well-tested, extensible code are expected.
