Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery and outcomes for client connectivity products and services while remaining hands-on and guiding other engineers.
- Set and communicate technology strategy while balancing business delivery, technical debt remediation, risk, time, and quality.
- Lead development pods and multiple teams, improve engineering standards and ways of working, and mentor engineers.
- Build in performance, resilience, observability, and recoverability through non-functional requirements.
- Deliver safe, predictable, small, regular, non-breaking releases and lead release, change, and operational acceptance activities.
- Lead production support, incident response, problem management, post-incident reviews, retrospectives, and operational rituals.
- Drive root-cause remediation, service reliability improvements, risk and control management, vulnerability management, and governance compliance.
- Partner directly with Product Owners, communicate progress and impact, and share engineering practices across Client Connectivity.
Requirements
- Strong full-stack DevOps experience across build, test, release, and run, including Continuous Delivery practices.
- Hands-on production engineering experience across at least two programming languages, with examples including Java, JavaScript, Clojure, and Python.
- Relational database experience, preferably PostgreSQL, plus working knowledge of Unix and infrastructure.
- Ability to operate in both Unix and Windows environments.
- Experience designing and consuming HTTP APIs, including REST APIs.
- Proven technical leadership through coaching, raising engineering standards, and improving team practices.
- Strong production support capability covering observability, incident and problem management, and service reliability improvement.
- Experience managing multiple development teams and working directly with Product Owners end-to-end.
- Strong stakeholder management, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and escalation judgment.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and regulatory requirements, including data privacy, consent, and data residency, and how to apply them in delivery.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
