
Software Engineer III - Devops and Java
JPMorgan ChaseResponsibilities
- Develops, reviews, debugs, and deploys secure, high-quality production software.
- Collaborates directly with Investment Teams, Traders, and Portfolio Managers to translate business needs into technology solutions.
- Provides technical guidance to engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.
- Drives decisions affecting product design, application functionality, technical operations, and engineering processes.
- Uses SRE and support tooling to help operate and support production applications.
- Applies AI-assisted development and automation tools for coding, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and productivity improvements.
- Validates AI-generated outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding practices.
- Advocates for firmwide software development lifecycle frameworks, tools, and practices.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 3 years of applied experience.
- Excellent programming experience with Core Java and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, and ServiceNow or comparable SRE and support tooling.
- Experience implementing TDD and BDD techniques, including mocking frameworks.
- Understanding of Java IoC frameworks such as Spring.
- Understanding of messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka, IBM MQ, Solace, or Ignite.
- Strong debugging skills and knowledge of engineering principles, application resiliency, security, and the software development lifecycle.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and validating their outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling of inputs and outputs.
- Preferred: strong hands-on exposure to AI development tools and SRE tooling experience.
