Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain T-SQL code including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database scripts.
- Design and maintain database schemas, data models, and high-throughput stored procedures for critical operations.
- Analyse and optimise complex queries, execution plans, indexes, and database objects.
- Investigate and resolve production incidents involving database behaviour, performance, or data integrity.
- Support developers with efficient SQL queries and review database-related changes before production.
- Assist second-level support with escalated database and code-level operational issues.
- Provide technical guidance on keeping performance-sensitive logic in SQL Server rather than application code.
- Contribute to database development standards, best practices, and review processes.
- Define and contribute to data retention, storage, archiving, and deletion strategies.
- Bridge development and DBA teams to align application needs with database operational requirements.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of database development experience with strong hands-on Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL expertise.
- Working knowledge of .NET applications, data access patterns, and Dapper or similar lightweight ORM or micro-ORM frameworks.
- Advanced knowledge of stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, indexes, transactions, and query optimisation.
- Strong experience analysing execution plans and performance bottlenecks in complex or high-volume systems.
- Understanding of indexing, locking, blocking, deadlocks, isolation levels, and transactional consistency.
- Experience designing and optimising database solutions for performance, scalability, and reliability under heavy load.
- Strong knowledge of database design, data modelling, normalisation, and relational database architecture.
- Experience supporting production systems and troubleshooting performance or stability issues.
- Understanding of DBA activities including monitoring, backups, maintenance plans, SQL Server Agent jobs, security, and availability.
- Ability to collaborate with developers and DBAs and translate application requirements into sustainable database solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
- Previous iGaming industry experience is preferred.
