Responsibilities
- Define test approaches, scenarios, and measurable acceptance criteria for throughput, latency, scalability, resilience, availability, recovery, resource consumption, and failure conditions.
- Create, maintain, and execute automated non-functional test suites for Java applications on IBM WebSphere, Open Liberty, and Kubernetes.
- Develop realistic payment-processing workload models and validate systems under normal, peak, stress, endurance, and failure conditions.
- Automate the provisioning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of non-functional tests and integrate them into Maven and Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
- Analyze application, infrastructure, JVM, network, and container metrics, logs, traces, and test results to identify bottlenecks and perform root-cause analysis.
- Investigate and reproduce customer-reported performance, capacity, resilience, and stability issues in production environments.
- Establish performance baselines, detect regressions, contribute reusable testing standards and automation frameworks, and support capacity planning and infrastructure sizing.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, DevOps and platform engineers, test engineers, support teams, and stakeholders to communicate findings and resolve issues.
Requirements
- Strong experience with non-functional, performance, load, stress, scalability, or resilience testing.
- Experience designing automated tests for high-volume backend or distributed systems.
- Strong knowledge of Java applications and the JVM, including memory management, garbage collection, threading, concurrency, connection pools, dump analysis, and profiling.
- Experience testing Java applications on application servers such as IBM WebSphere Application Server or Open Liberty.
- Understanding of cloud-native and containerized architectures, with practical Kubernetes experience.
- Experience with Jenkins, Maven, Grafana, Kibana, and Elasticsearch, plus scripting or programming for test and workflow automation.
- Understanding of networking concepts including bandwidth, latency, TCP connections, load balancing, timeouts, retries, and network saturation.
- Experience with relational databases, messaging systems, REST APIs, or other backend integrations.
- Knowledge of OpenTelemetry, SWIFT messaging, payment-processing or financial-services systems, resilience and failure testing, Kubernetes observability, infrastructure automation, and JVM diagnostic tools is preferred.
- Experience with performance-testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, NeoLoad, k6, or equivalent platforms is preferred.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or equivalent professional experience.
- Several years of experience in non-functional testing, performance engineering, software engineering, DevOps, site reliability engineering, or a related technical role; professional working proficiency in English.
