Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the embedded Linux platform for SmartMast edge devices.
- Integrate cameras, radar, SDR, AIS, GPS/GNSS, thermal sensors, and related hardware interfaces.
- Build and maintain ROS2-based middleware and services for inter-process and inter-sensor communication.
- Develop and optimize edge AI inference pipelines for detection, segmentation, and classification.
- Design resilient edge-to-cloud data paths for constrained maritime networks.
- Manage OTA update workflows, staged rollouts, rollback strategies, and fleet-deployed devices.
- Debug production issues using field telemetry, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver durable fixes.
- Partner with hardware, software, and operations teams to move systems from laboratory testing to vessel deployment.
- Lead PTZ camera integration decisions involving lens selection, sensor convergence, alignment, and stabilization tuning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of software development experience in robotics, electronics, or embedded systems.
- More than 4 years of professional proficiency in Python, C++, and shell scripting; Rust is a bonus.
- Strong production embedded Linux experience, particularly with Ubuntu.
- Experience with NVIDIA Jetson or similar edge computing platforms, CUDA, and Yocto.
- Experience with ROS or ROS2, sensor integration, device drivers, industrial PTZ network cameras, and video streaming.
- Hands-on experience with sensor fusion across radar, EO/IR, and positioning data, including Kalman/EKF, particle filters, or learned approaches.
- Experience developing and deploying AI/ML models for visual detection, segmentation, and classification.
- Experience with OTA update systems, device fleet management, cloud ingestion infrastructure, and AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Solid networking fundamentals, remote debugging, SSH, and VNC experience.
- Experience with GPS, IMU, cameras, radar, thermal or weather sensors, and related hardware interfaces is required or preferred.
- Maritime, defense, autonomy, or other mission-critical deployment experience is preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
