Responsibilities

  • Lead secure cloud architecture design and implementation for warfighter needs, distributed maritime operations, and Navy operational objectives.
  • Develop hybrid edge-to-cloud architectures integrating tactical edge nodes, on-platform compute, on-premises infrastructure, and cloud environments.
  • Architect multi-classification and cross-domain solutions that address multi-level security requirements.
  • Lead deployments and modernization across AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, on-premises, tactical, and containerized environments.
  • Implement and optimize DevSecOps pipelines using CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated security scanning, configuration management, and secure deployment practices.
  • Ensure architectures align with Department of War cloud standards, Impact Levels 4, 5, and 6+, Zero Trust, RMF, cybersecurity controls, and mission assurance requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership to engineers, developers, cybersecurity personnel, operators, program leaders, and government stakeholders.
  • Support architecture reviews, technical planning, risk identification, trade studies, stakeholder briefings, testing, and sustainment activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 14 or more years of experience, master's degree and 12 or more years, or PhD/JD and 9 or more years.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance at start, with the ability to obtain TS/SCI after starting.
  • Active CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Extensive experience in cloud architecture, distributed systems, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevSecOps, or related technical roles.
  • Experience designing, deploying, integrating, or sustaining solutions in AWS, Azure, AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or similar environments.
  • Experience with secure cloud, hybrid cloud, edge-to-cloud, containerized, or enterprise platform architectures.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, configuration management, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, microservices architectures, and cloud-native application deployment patterns.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity, storage, compute, security, monitoring, and infrastructure operations.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineers, operators, cybersecurity personnel, program managers, and government stakeholders and communicate technical decisions to technical, operational, and executive audiences.
  • Preferred experience includes Navy warfighting concepts, distributed maritime operations, AWS GovCloud or Azure Government, Department of War cloud standards, Impact Levels 4-6+, Zero Trust, RMF, STIGs, vulnerability scanning, patch remediation, cross-domain solutions, multi-level security, data streaming, real-time analytics, distributed data platforms, and tactical or shipboard cloud environments.
  • Preferred experience includes AWS services, Terraform, CloudFormation, YAML, JSON, Git-based workflows, Bash, Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift Container Platform, Amazon EKS, and service mesh environments.
