Responsibilities

  • Lead OpenBMC firmware design, development, integration, debugging, and technical execution.
  • Define firmware requirements, architecture, implementation strategies, and technical documentation.
  • Design features, enhance existing firmware, and lead architecture and design activities.
  • Develop and execute firmware validation and software verification plans.
  • Investigate and resolve module-level, system-level, and firmware-hardware integration defects.
  • Lead technical planning, reviews, risk identification, mitigation, and release activities.
  • Support project estimation during RFI/RFQ phases and collaborate with project managers, architects, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and promote engineering process and quality improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with development processes, security policies, and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in firmware design and development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with OpenBMC development, architecture, debugging, source customization, platform bring-up, and board porting.
  • Experience with Aspeed BMC SoCs, embedded Linux, Yocto, BitBake, Linux kernel, device drivers, IPC, and U-Boot.
  • Knowledge of Intel, AMD, and ARM server platforms and server management architecture.
  • Working knowledge of IPMI, Redfish, PLDM, MCTP, and SPDM protocols.
  • Experience with BMC features including SDR, SEL, FRU, SOL, IPMB, KCS, PEF, and PECI.
  • Experience with I2C/I3C, SPI, PMBus, LPC, UART, JTAG, GPIO, and SGPIO hardware interfaces.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenBMC components including D-Bus, Entity Manager, BMCWeb, Phosphor services, Virtual Media, and User Management.
  • Experience leading firmware teams, feature development, code reviews, technical discussions, and technical initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of firmware development lifecycle, release management, CI/CD, and quality processes.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, risk assessment, mentoring, ownership, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
