Base Salary
$220k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction and architecture for Voxel’s ML infrastructure, including build-versus-buy and framework decisions.
- Architect and build PyTorch and AWS training infrastructure that supports concurrent experiments and rapid iteration.
- Own the train-to-deploy handoff by exporting models to TensorRT and ONNX, measuring accuracy and latency tradeoffs, and partnering with Platform on production deployment.
- Select and implement experiment tracking and lifecycle tooling such as Weights & Biases, MLflow, or ClearML.
- Establish DevOps-for-ML practices covering infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, and cost monitoring.
- Mentor Vision & AI engineers on ML infrastructure, training, evaluation, and deployment best practices.
- Plan infrastructure for future scaling and the move to on-device inference.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building and shipping large-scale software systems, including at least 3 years focused on ML infrastructure or large-scale data infrastructure.
- Experience owning architecture, tool selection, framework choices, and build-versus-buy decisions for systems used by other engineers.
- Deep fluency with PyTorch and modern ML training infrastructure, including reliable experiment tracking and training pipelines at scale.
- Strong Python skills and experience writing performant, maintainable production code.
- Pragmatic judgment about architectural tradeoffs and a strong shipping orientation.
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical tradeoffs to researchers, infrastructure peers, and leadership.
- Preferred: production AWS experience with services such as S3, EC2, or EKS for ML workloads.
- Preferred: hands-on model export and inference optimization experience with TensorRT, ONNX, or similar tools.
- Preferred: experience with ML orchestration tools such as Ray, Sematic, Flyte, Metaflow, or Prefect.
- Preferred: GPU performance profiling and optimization experience with Nsight, PyTorch profiler, or similar tools.
- Preferred: computer vision model training experience.
