Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, document, deploy, and operate production-ready features across the team’s products.
- Develop backend services with NestJS, TypeScript, TypeORM, and PostgreSQL, and frontend features with Next.js and React.
- Modernize legacy systems by replacing Java/Spring Boot services and extracting functionality from the PHP monolith into bounded modern services.
- Deploy services on AWS using ECS, Lambda, SQS, Docker, AWS CDK, Terraform, and CodeBuild.
- Apply security, unit testing, integration testing, Cypress E2E testing, monitoring, and documentation practices.
- Own multi-sprint efforts independently, manage scope and delivery risks, and communicate with stakeholders.
- Use AI coding assistants and agents for development while reviewing, testing, and taking ownership of generated code.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, tech talks, documentation, design reviews, onboarding, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production full-stack web applications.
- Advanced TypeScript/Node.js experience with NestJS and Express, or deep Java/Spring Boot experience with strong motivation to work in TypeScript.
- Strong relational database skills with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, including schema design, query optimization, and ORM usage.
- Frontend engineering experience with React, preferably Next.js, including component architecture, state management, SSR/ISR, accessibility, and performance.
- Experience designing and consuming production APIs, with REST required and GraphQL considered a plus.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, AWS, and containerized deployment with Docker.
- Ability to independently scope, design, communicate, and deliver multi-sprint work.
- Hands-on daily experience with AI coding assistants or agents such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor, with the ability to validate generated code.
- Preferred experience with PHP/CodeIgniter, older Java, .NET Framework, AWS CDK, Terraform, SQS, GraphQL, gRPC, Strapi, React Native, Expo, Python, FastAPI, data pipelines, LLM API integration, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, or agentic workflows.
- Interest in sports cards, gaming, or collectibles is a plus.
