Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly team goals while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
- Design and implement real-time fraud decisioning services and APIs in Python or Kotlin for markets beyond the United States.
- Build platform and tooling that make launching fraud decisioning in new countries repeatable and scalable.
- Integrate regional fraud and risk vendors and operationalize machine learning and AI signals for real-time decisioning.
- Collaborate with Product, Machine Learning, Analytics, Fraud Strategy, Compliance, and Fraud Operations stakeholders.
- Create and monitor system metrics, support availability, and participate in keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts.
- Improve code review and design standards, mentor teammates, and promote a culture of quality and ownership.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
- Experience with distributed systems and infrastructure using AWS, MySQL or PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes.
- Strong system design skills and experience delivering maintainable, extensible services.
- Ability to direct and critically evaluate AI-assisted engineering work while owning code correctness, quality, and security.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience working with data-rich environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and safe production deployments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for distributed-team collaboration.
- Experience with Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, or Chronosphere is preferred.
- Background in fraud prevention, risk systems, or real-time decisioning is preferred.
- Experience with multiple markets, internationalization, or localization is preferred.
- Experience in fintech or other regulated environments and understanding of risk, compliance, and operational constraints is preferred.
- Must be based in Spain; visa sponsorship is available.
