Base Salary
$144k - $214k/yr
Responsibilities
- Embed with customer ML and engineering teams to define evaluation standards, technical plans, model customization approaches, and serving architectures.
- Customize and post-train foundation and open-weight models using continued pre-training, supervised fine-tuning, preference optimization, and reinforcement learning.
- Build data pipelines, synthetic data generation systems, evaluation harnesses, distributed training pipelines, RL interaction harnesses, and production inference stacks.
- Optimize training and inference workloads on AWS Trainium using the AWS Neuron SDK, including profiling, benchmarking, accuracy-parity work, and custom kernel development.
- Deploy and operate customized models in production and create reusable fine-tuning recipes, evaluation frameworks, benchmarking tools, and optimization patterns.
- Travel up to 25% and share field learnings with AWS service teams.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- At least 2 years of non-internship experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Programming experience in at least one software programming language.
- Hands-on experience with generative AI technologies such as LLMs, vision-language models, or speech models.
- Preferred: a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: experience with large-scale distributed LLM training, LLM post-training, model training or inference optimization, AWS Trainium or Inferentia, AWS ML services, custom kernels, and deploying ML models in customer production environments.
