Responsibilities
- Partner with Product and Technology leadership to understand complex requirements and drive appropriate technical solutions.
- Collaborate with development teams to determine architectural direction based on project needs, effort, resources, and timing.
- Understand, document, and maintain architectural information for existing systems across multiple systems.
- Serve as an architectural subject matter expert and provide guidance to technical leadership and developers.
- Drive architectural principles and guidelines and partner with engineering managers to promote architectural best practices.
- Create and maintain architectural diagrams and system documentation.
- Mentor technical staff on microservices, micro-frontends, high-volume data streaming, and event processing.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and development practices for improving new and existing systems.
- Design well-instrumented solutions and diagnose complex performance, scalability, and reliability issues.
- Advocate for and architect secure software products and platforms.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college or university.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience designing highly complex enterprise-level web applications.
- Deep knowledge of microservices, serverless systems, data applications, and web applications.
- Experience designing and building secure systems and applying security-minded development practices.
- Expert-level proficiency in at least one of C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions with AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, SNS/SQS, S3, and API Gateway.
- Experience with test-driven development methodologies.
- Experience modeling and implementing large-scale relational and NoSQL database systems.
- Experience designing and implementing event-oriented architectures and real-time data streaming solutions.
- Strong ability to communicate through architectural diagrams.
- Preferred qualifications include AWS, Azure, or GCP architect-level certifications; experience with Git or Azure DevOps, Terraform, Kibana, tokenization, OpenID, and software development best practices; and team or project leadership experience.
- Experience with financial data and exposure to full-stack languages and platforms such as GraphQL are preferred.
