Base Salary
$226k - $351k/yr
Responsibilities
- Advance enterprise software engineering standards for development, architecture, quality, security, reliability, observability, automation, and operational excellence.
- Provide technical leadership for complex software and data architecture across multiple engineering teams and large-scale initiatives.
- Design, code, prototype, review, and deliver scalable, resilient, secure, reusable, and cost-effective software.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, languages, frameworks, and engineering practices and translate findings into practical solutions.
- Advance monitoring, self-service capabilities, automated remediation, auditability, and self-healing systems.
- Identify architectural risks and communicate technical trade-offs, dependencies, and mitigation strategies to technical and executive stakeholders.
- Mentor engineers and technical leaders and strengthen engineering communities, standards, and best practices.
- Partner with Product Management, Operations, platform teams, and technology leaders to shape strategy, improve reliability, and support student success.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including experience pioneering technologies or engineering approaches.
- Demonstrated technical leadership across multiple engineering teams or large-scale technology initiatives.
- Extensive experience designing and developing web-based applications and web services.
- Strong experience with Java, REST, SQL, Git, and modern software engineering technologies.
- Experience integrating third-party products and enterprise systems and establishing software architecture, technical standards, and engineering quality practices.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree or PhD, experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Oracle, Angular 2+, and Amazon Web Services, and deep experience with cloud-native applications and distributed systems.
- Preferred experience includes observability, automated testing, infrastructure automation, self-service engineering platforms, self-healing systems, online or distance education, and communicating technology strategy to executives.
