Base Salary
$172k - $232k/yr
Responsibilities
- Analyze client mainframe and mid-range architectures, interfaces, data models, batch-processing frameworks, and business processes.
- Propose future-state business processes and technical architecture solutions for modernizing legacy financial applications.
- Develop migration strategies for COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM applications to distributed, server-based, and cloud environments.
- Provide architecture-level recommendations for system integration, performance optimization, data migration, and application interoperability.
- Create technical drawings, architecture diagrams, proof-of-concept solutions, documentation, modernization roadmaps, and data migration plans.
- Lead design and solutioning activities with client financial agents, partner organizations, and multiple development teams.
- Communicate requirements and adopted architecture decisions to oversight and development teams.
- Guide development teams in applying modern design patterns, cloud-native principles, and DevSecOps practices.
- Support application testing, validation, and deployment across environments.
- Contribute to winning proposals and improve client financial application efficiency and user experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in enterprise application architecture, systems design, and implementation.
- Experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM mainframe technologies.
- Experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, PostgreSQL, Tomcat or WebLogic, and Linux.
- Hands-on experience modernizing or migrating legacy mainframe applications to distributed or cloud-based systems.
- Strong understanding of system integration, data migration, and interoperability between legacy and modern platforms.
- Experience mapping business processes and technical architectures using industry-standard tools such as Microsoft Visio.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical documentation skills.
- Preferred experience supporting federal financial systems and financial architectures such as general ledger, disbursement, or reconciliation systems.
- Preferred experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; Docker and Kubernetes; DevSecOps pipelines; and FISMA, NIST 800-53, and FedRAMP.
- US Person status is required; US citizenship is not required and no security clearance is required.
