Responsibilities
- Own mission-critical distributed pricing services from technical design and API contracts through implementation, deployment, and ongoing operations.
- Analyze complex problems, break them into milestones, and deliver sustainable technical solutions collaboratively.
- Participate in architecture reviews, technical documentation, code reviews, and framework or design-pattern recommendations.
- Develop and maintain software applications using appropriate development tools and customer design requirements.
- Advocate for unit testing, service-level agreements, resiliency, scalability, monitoring, alerting, and other operational excellence practices.
- Mentor team members and share technical knowledge across teams.
- Partner with business stakeholders to connect technology decisions with business outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, with 5+ years of professional software development experience, or a master’s degree with 4+ years of post-degree experience.
- Hands-on software development experience with Java, Scala, Kotlin, or similar object-oriented or functional programming languages.
- Experience building and operating scalable distributed systems and services in AWS cloud infrastructure or similar technologies.
- Experience formally mentoring at least three individuals and driving end-to-end technical design for at least three projects.
- Ability to identify project- and team-level business problems and design solutions that are testable and observable.
- Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, data structures, API patterns, and service-oriented architectures.
- Experience establishing operational excellence metrics and advocating for quality through testing, monitoring, and alerting.
- Practical experience developing robust distributed caching solutions such as Redis, Couchbase, or Memcached.
- Experience working on Agile development teams of at least five engineers, with version control, continuous integration, and continuous delivery practices.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and technical excellence skills for working in a globally distributed team.
- Preferred: experience with low-latency, high-throughput microservices processing 1M+ TPS.
- Preferred: experience safely integrating AI/ML-enabled solutions within backend systems and using AI-driven tools or workflows.
