Responsibilities
- Advise customers and resolve complex MongoDB problems involving architecture, performance, recovery, security, and scalability.
- Troubleshoot customer environments holistically from the application tier through databases, systems, networking, and storage.
- Serve as an expert resource on running MongoDB at scale and advocate for customer needs with product management and development teams.
- Develop internal support tools for performance analysis, benchmarking, and diagnostics.
- Mentor and ramp new team members and build knowledge of new MongoDB product lines.
- Handle technical escalations and provide advance diagnostics independently as expertise develops.
Requirements
- Systems engineering experience with Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols including DNS, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS.
- Storage engineering experience with NAS, SAN, SSD, multipathing, and caching.
- Experience building and maintaining complex mission-critical production database systems.
- Ability to read code and basic coding or scripting ability in one or more languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js, or Go.
- Experience analyzing issues from the application tier through the database and storage layers.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills and a customer-focused, collaborative approach.
- Preferred experience with large-scale RDBMS or NoSQL databases, LDAP, Kerberos, Active Directory, MongoDB, Git, AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, or enterprise orchestration operators.
