Responsibilities
- Build software that automates the deployment and operation of production databases.
- Participate in regular on-call rotations to address production issues.
- Troubleshoot and remediate stability and reliability issues in database systems.
- Conduct post-incident reviews and manage follow-up actions.
- Identify patterns in incidents and propose systemic improvements.
- Manage large-scale migrations of database fleets.
- Collaborate with customer-facing teams during incidents and new installations.
- Work with engineering and infrastructure teams to create resilient database systems.
- Invest in documentation, metrics, and troubleshooting tools.
- Maintain high engineering and operational standards through reviews and feedback.
Requirements
- Engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or a similar field.
- Experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, and Go.
- Familiarity with cloud and orchestration technologies like Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, and Azure.
- Experience with database technologies including Cassandra, Elasticsearch, and Kafka.
- Solid foundation in Linux and distributed web services.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
