Lead Mobile Engineer, Performance

Responsibilities
- Own mobile performance end-to-end, including startup time, rendering performance, runtime efficiency, and measurable performance targets
- Define the architecture, standards, and tooling for mobile performance, including memory, rendering, networking, and background processing
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in app startup, screen transitions, real-time data rendering, and network requests across iOS and Android
- Design data-fetching, caching, and synchronization strategies that minimize latency under varying network conditions
- Build observability through real user monitoring, crash reporting, frame-rate tracking, and synthetic testing
- Establish performance benchmarks, budgets, and standards across mobile engineering
Requirements
- Deep mobile performance engineering experience at significant scale across iOS, Android, or both
- Strong expertise in rendering, memory management, network optimization, background processing, and app startup
- Proficiency in Swift and/or Kotlin with an understanding of mobile runtimes, rendering systems, and operating-system scheduling
- Experience with real user monitoring, frame-rate profiling, and observability systems
- A rigorous, measurement-driven approach involving profiling, instrumentation, and performance validation
- Technical leadership experience setting direction and influencing broader engineering practices
- Familiarity with real-time data applications, live market feeds, or mobile trading products is a plus
- Background in fintech or data-intensive consumer mobile products is a plus
