Responsibilities
- Interpret, write, and modify COBOL batch and CICS programs according to business requirements and documented standards.
- Design, develop, and support mainframe-based mortgage servicing solutions.
- Serve as technical lead, architect, or principal developer on projects of appropriate scope and complexity.
- Provide and guide production support for applications, including participation in a secondary on-call rotation.
- Research problems, formulate solutions, and implement reliable, scalable, and efficient coding solutions.
- Mentor and guide less experienced developers and contribute to team knowledge transfer.
- Identify opportunities to improve tools and processes, increase productivity, and reduce production risk.
- Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across organizational units.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent education, training, or work experience.
- 8+ years of z/OS mainframe application development experience.
- Experience with Batch/CICS COBOL, JCL, IDz, ISPW, REXX, and TSO.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time constraints, and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with FM/MSP production job flows and processes is a plus.
- Experience with Java, Java plug-ins, Assembler, C*, or Claude Code is a plus.
