Responsibilities
- Design and deploy scalable, fault-tolerant, highly available GCP architectures using the Google Cloud Well-Architected Framework.
- Build end-to-end batch and streaming data pipelines with Cloud Composer, Apache Airflow, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Storage.
- Engineer secure containerized and serverless platforms using GKE and Cloud Run.
- Develop modular Terraform infrastructure, policy-as-code guardrails, CI/CD pipelines, and compliant cloud provisioning workflows.
- Implement observability across infrastructure, data pipelines, and platform services, including monitoring, logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and audit evidence.
- Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, cost optimization, throughput optimization, and root cause analysis across distributed systems and data pipelines.
- Design governed BigQuery data platforms using dimensional modeling, big data modeling, advanced SQL, partitioning, clustering, and query optimization.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Information Security, Compliance, product, and delivery teams on architecture, governance, controls, reusable platform capabilities, and engineering epics.
- Lead design reviews and approvals, create architecture artifacts and operational runbooks, mentor engineers, and promote secure-by-default engineering and data standards.
- Communicate technical architecture and data platform decisions to senior stakeholders, business partners, and global engineering teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience engineering and operating large-scale production GCP environments in regulated enterprise contexts, preferably financial services.
- Strong hands-on GCP data engineering experience with Cloud Composer or Airflow, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage.
- Advanced BigQuery, big data analytics modeling, SQL development, query optimization, partitioning, clustering, and performance-tuning skills.
- Strong Java engineering skills for system development, integrations, APIs, data ingestion, and processing.
- Advanced Python skills for automation and data processing, including PySpark and related libraries.
- Deep hands-on Terraform expertise, including modular design, state management, policy as code, environment promotion, and automated compliance checks.
- Advanced GKE and Cloud Run experience covering cluster and service design, scalability, security, networking, workload identity, and cost/performance optimization.
- Expertise in Google Cloud observability capabilities across infrastructure and data pipelines, including monitoring, logging, error reporting, and distributed tracing.
- DevOps and platform engineering experience with GitOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and reusable internal developer and data platform components.
- Clear written architecture and operational documentation, effective communication with senior stakeholders, and the ability to influence cross-functional technical and data architecture decisions.
- Certified GCP Professional Cloud Engineer certification is preferred.
