Base Salary
$129k - $194k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve foundational Kubernetes and cloud platforms supporting MITRE engineering, research, and mission teams.
- Design and operate production Kubernetes infrastructure covering cluster lifecycle, networking, storage, observability, and security.
- Build reliable and secure compute platforms for internal tools and development and production workloads.
- Author and operate CI/CD pipelines integrated with Infrastructure as Code and GitOps workflows.
- Operate mixed Linux and Windows environments at scale, including identity, security controls, and platform services.
- Provide monitoring, alerting, logging, incident management, on-call participation, and post-incident reviews.
- Harden systems for CMMC, FedRAMP, and similar compliance requirements.
- Guide engineering teams in adopting platform capabilities and production operating practices.
- Brief senior government and customer stakeholders on status, decisions, and technical recommendations.
- Improve platform reliability, incident response, vulnerability remediation, and team enablement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience with hands-on production Kubernetes platform experience, or 3 years with a master’s degree or relevant PhD experience.
- Strong cloud infrastructure experience, preferably with AWS and regulated environments such as GovCloud.
- Experience with multi-cluster, multi-tenant, or hybrid-cloud Kubernetes architectures.
- Proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent Infrastructure as Code tools and GitOps practices.
- Experience operating CI/CD pipelines for platform and application workloads.
- Experience with incident management, on-call rotations, and post-incident reviews.
- Experience hardening systems for CMMC, FedRAMP, or similar compliance frameworks.
- Deep experience operating Linux and Windows environments at scale.
- Hands-on experience with Grafana, Loki, Alloy, logging pipelines, monitoring, alerting, and observability integrations.
- Strong communication skills and experience influencing engineering teams and briefing senior government or customer stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. government security clearance and U.S. citizenship eligibility.
- Preferred qualifications include service mesh, network policy, policy-as-code, runtime security, AI/ML workloads, GPU orchestration, container security, zero-trust patterns, CVE remediation, internal developer platforms, reliability initiatives, and national security or government experience.
