Responsibilities
- Design and implement algorithms and systems for framing and structural analysis from early prototypes through a shippable MVP.
- Use AI-assisted workflows while owning the correctness, maintainability, and behavior of shipped code.
- Partner with product, customer success, and other engineers to define expected behavior, identify gaps, and support customer satisfaction.
- Apply structural engineering judgment to translate framing and structural systems into robust software.
- Write tests covering difficult corner cases.
- Help establish the technical direction of a new team and mentor team members as the team grows.
- Communicate tradeoffs, delivery timelines, and technical decisions while navigating evolving scope and priorities.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience, ideally with TypeScript.
- Structural or mechanical engineering experience gained academically or professionally.
- Familiarity with computational geometry and mathematical modeling.
- Professional fluency with modern development tools and AI-assisted workflows, with clear ownership of code correctness and maintainability.
- Ability to operate effectively amid ambiguity on a new and emerging team.
- Clear communication of tradeoffs, delivery timelines, and decisions.
- Experience with framing, structural analysis, or CAD/CAM tooling is a major plus.
- Experience with C# or Python and willingness to learn TypeScript and React is advantageous.
- Interest in homebuilding, construction, or home design is a plus.
