Responsibilities
- Maintain, develop, test, support, and enhance a production legacy Java application.
- Perform development, engineering, automation, DevOps, and operational tasks, including participation in an on-call rotation.
- Develop integrations, plugins, and tool onboarding to support business needs and the Morgan Stanley ecosystem.
- Improve service automation and observability while adhering to architectural and product standards.
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, Agile ceremonies, documentation, presentations, and knowledge sharing.
- Drive architecture and design decisions, review critical code and production changes, and coach engineers through technical and career challenges.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
- At least 6 years of relevant experience would generally be expected for the role.
- Strong knowledge of HTTP/REST, TLS/SSL, authentication, authorization, object-oriented programming, Spring Security, and secure application design.
- Experience with data security, encryption at rest and in transit, secret management, public key infrastructure, and cybersecurity practices.
- Experience debugging and troubleshooting logs, thread dumps, and network traces.
- Experience with Git, LDAP, JDBC, relational databases, observability tooling, and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of Perl programming and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong communication, presentation, architecture, design review, code review, and technical coaching abilities.
- Experience with GenAI, agentic AI, or LLMs is an advantage.
- Java certifications such as OCJP or Java Web Component Developer are advantageous.
