Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the architecture of ACP, including its orchestrator, per-host agent, CLI, compute placement, image management, and network recovery.
- Design, build, and operate compute and fleet tooling in Go and Python that interfaces with Kubernetes, OpenStack, and out-of-band hardware-management APIs.
- Lead medium-to-large projects across Fleet, Compute Platform, and adjacent teams from design through delivery and operation.
- Participate in system design reviews and influence architecture across the engineering organization.
- Use agentic coding tools in design, implementation, testing, and review while helping other engineers adopt them effectively.
- Troubleshoot product and system issues at scale across multiple global data centers.
- Interview and mentor engineers and help raise the hiring bar for compute and fleet roles.
- Define and use measures for ACP reliability, operational load, and delivery quality to guide development priorities.
- Gather requirements with Software Development, Infrastructure Management, and adjacent teams to design scalable and resilient services.
- Create technical documentation and training for operating and extending ACP.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong hands-on background in infrastructure or compute systems.
- Strong distributed-systems development skills in Go; Python experience is advantageous.
- Experience owning and evolving production distributed systems such as control planes, orchestrators, or agents.
- Experience with virtualization and bare-metal provisioning at scale.
- Practical production experience with Kubernetes, including workloads, APIs, and cluster behavior.
- Comfort using agentic coding tools in daily software development or ability to quickly adopt the team’s workflow.
- Strong understanding of distributed-systems observability, including monitoring, alerting, logging, and visualization at scale.
- Track record of leading medium-to-large technical projects and driving architectural decisions.
- Experience working across team boundaries and learning the internals of adjacent systems.
- Clear written and verbal English for design documents, reviews, and cross-team discussions.
- Experience with Kubernetes controllers, operators, and/or CRDs is preferred.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source Kubernetes Operators or Controllers is preferred.
- Experience with configuration-management and automation tooling, preferably Ansible and/or AWX, is preferred.
- Experience with out-of-band hardware-management APIs such as iLO and DRAC and physical architecture at scale is preferred.
- Experience building resilient, highly available solutions with no single point of failure is preferred.
- Experience with infrastructure-delivery CI/CD and GitOps approaches is preferred.
- Experience working in a large, distributed engineering organization with many stakeholders is preferred.
