Responsibilities
- Design and build MCP servers, tools, skills, and APIs for Alpaca’s agent-facing developer platform.
- Evolve the platform as MCP and connector, plugin, and skill standards change.
- Build APIs exposing trading and account capabilities to applications and agents.
- Define reusable platform components that help developers and partners build applications faster.
- Translate protocol and standards changes into the developer platform’s application architecture.
- Own production reliability and quality for the services built.
- Lead through architecture, coding, design reviews, and mentorship while partnering with Product, Compliance, Risk, and Platform Engineering teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including ownership of production systems used by other developers.
- Experience shipping a developer-facing API, SDK, or platform as a primary contributor.
- Experience with MCP architecture, including stateless and stateful behavior, or experience building to evolving connector, plugin, or skill standards in production.
- Strong API design skills covering schemas, compatibility, and dependable responses.
- Proficiency in Python or TypeScript and willingness to work primarily in Go.
- Strong architectural judgment and experience shipping while requirements are still being defined.
- Clear communication with engineering, product, compliance, and risk partners.
- Preferred: experience shipping developer-facing tools, SDKs, or MCP servers; building agents with a framework such as LangChain; understanding financial markets; production Go experience; startup experience; or remote-work experience.
